Dementia Support In Your Home

Do you want to stay in your home but finding it more difficult to do?

Are tasks that were once routine now challenging and taking longer?

Are you having difficulty remembering where things are or how to do things?

Perhaps you are caring for someone living with dementia and each day is becoming more stressful?

Dementia can impact people in many ways and their behavior can be testing/challenging. As a family member or caregiver, you may experience guilt, grief, loss and even frustration and anger. You are not alone and we can support you.

Dementia

The aim is to provide support and holistic care that meets the needs of each person and encourages independence. It’s not about working to a schedule but listening to what the person living with dementia needs on the day of the visit and supporting them to live the life they want to live.

We believe that everyone is infinitely valuable and deserves to live with high self-esteem and dignity, be respected, have a meaningful place in their community, and a chance to make meaningful contributions to society.

Many people with dementia can stay in their own home with support from family carers, community nurses or paid care workers.

Being in familiar surroundings can help people cope better with their condition.

But they may eventually need support in a residential home. Depending on their needs, this could be provided in a nursing home or a dementia-specific facility.

If you are looking to engage a carer, you will find our care fees affordable and flexible. You may only need the odd overnight respite. We have designed an overnight rate that extends over 12 hours which has flexible start and end times. Alternatively, you may want to engage a carer for a couple of hours at a time. Our staff are trained and vetted and would be in the first instance extending companionship. A carer can accompany clients to appointments or cook a meal and undertake household chores. Contact us for further information or to arrange a trial visit.

How the way you walk could be used to identify some types of dementia

More than 50m people worldwide are currently living with dementia. With an ageing population, it’s likely that this number will only continue to grow, as getting older is one of the biggest risk factors in developing dementia. But until researchers find a cure, having ways to diagnose this condition early and effectively is important for providing patients with the best treatment possible.

HUG may look like a soft toy on the outside - but it has been specially designed to help people with advanced dementia.

Designers at Cardiff Metropolitan University hope it can help to ease anxiety and depression.
